What we do

Spinnaker Global are specialists in shore-based shipping recruitment, executive search, and HR consulting. Set up in 1997 by CEO Steve Cox and Chairman Phil Parry - a barrister and maritime lawyer respectively, who still run the business today Ė Spinnakerís recruitment division has placed thousands of candidates in over 60 countries.

This website will give you an idea of what itís like to work for our successful recruitment division, who work for major shipping companies across the world.

Working in Leigh-on-Sea

Spinnaker is a firm with a global presence, situated in Leigh-on-Sea; and this means London pay by the coast. Itís the perfect combination: progress a big city career without the commute.

Leigh-on-Sea, a town in the borough of Southend-on-Sea, was named one of the ĎTop 30 Coolest Places in Britain to Liveí in the Times newspaper in 2013, and not without reason. A vibrant fishing town, Leigh is buzzing with independent businesses, boutiques, cafes and parks, with several beaches close by.

There is also a great cultural heritage to the area, with music festivals, a film festival, and an annual Art Trail that combine to provide a sense of cultural community.

Spinnakerís proximity to the coast means we have a great connection to the Thames Estuary, which sees container ships and cargo vessels sailing by on a daily basis. As a shipping recruitment agency, being so close to ports such as the London Gateway, it puts our work into context.

Training and Development

All new recruits receive a personally-tailored Induction Programme from day one. This provides everybody we hire with an even level of knowledge and skills to help them become productive, successful and confident consultants. The programmes include a variety of taught and on-desk training from a variety of experts within the team, whether itís on recruitment, shipping, or social media.

Your career at Spinnaker

Recruitment isnít just about sales; itís a complex and satisfying occupation where hard work pays off. We're all about rewarding achievement where it is due, and not just by remuneration alone. We have two clear career paths that can be followed depending on skills and preferences:

Business Development Route

You may be a fantastic consultant, but have no desire to manage a team. This way, you can develop your own desk and your personal billings.

Management Route

You may be a great consultant looking to broaden your career horizons by recruiting and developing your own team.
